After being Dee's partner for so many years, it had become second nature to expect certain things. Which had actually made his time with the replacement partner more difficult in a lot of ways because he'd gotten so used to working with Dee. That was something normal for anyone changing partners, but it grated more on Ryo and left him on edge in ways that he hadn't expected.
That was probably in part to the fact Dee hadn't been home in six months either. He'd handled it, not as well as he would have liked, having to sleep alone and feeling isolated, but he'd managed. Tonight though, that was over and Ryo had gotten the day off. Bikky and Carol were due for a visit in a few days anyway which would coincide nicely.
But tonight was just going to be the two of them. He'd probably gone a little overboard with the cleaning but it was a coping mechanism sometimes and better than sitting there watching the clock like an idiot.
